The SEUD Research Grant Program is a new initiative to stimulate research from young investigators.

Purpose

The SEUD Research Grant Program is a new initiative to stimulate research from young investigators.
Our society will fund research with novel and innovative hypotheses in any area relevant to the etiology, pathophysiology or treatment of endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids or other uterine disorders and its complications. Basic, clinical, translational and epidemiological research approaches are encouraged.

Eligibility

To apply for this grant, please find below the criteria:

  • applicants must be young investigators with less than 10 years post college education.
  • Investigator and his/her Mentor must be good standing SEUD members

Non members interested in this grant opportunity must submit a satisfactory application for SEUD membership, and be regular members, by the Letter of Intent deadline.

  • Investigator or his/her Mentor must work at an academic, medical, or research institution anywhere in the world

an applicant applying to an institution located in a country in which he/she is not a citizen or a permanent resident assures that his/her visa status will provide sufficient time to complete the project and grant term at the institution from which he/she applied).

  • Institutions interested in participating must submit a Letter of Intent to the Educational Committee summarizing their technical facilities and their scientific production in the field of endometriosis and uterine disorders during the past two years.

Application and project deadlines

Applications for this grant must be submitted to the educational committee three months before the date of the SEUD annual Congress.
SEUD Educational Committee will review all the applications and the decision will be announced during the Congress.

The project work will start at maximum two months after the end of the Congress and will last 24 months.

Research Project Criteria

The proposed research must represent a highly innovative approach to a major problem or challenge in endometriosis and uterine disorders research.
Ideally, the funded projects are expected to have a potentially transformative impact on future clinical practice.

Application content

To apply for this grant, please send a Letter of Intent expressing his/her desire to apply to the SEUD grant including the following points:

  • Applicant Investigator CV: Including a relation of the Institutions where he/she has been formed, list of papers he/she published and his/her area of expertise and a document of local health insurance for the duration of the grant.
  • Title of proposal
    • Summary of proposal with:
      • Problem statement, topic, issue and relevance;
      • Conceptual framework/theoretical framework;
      • Research question(s);
      • Description of proposed design and methods;
      • Timeline of the project;
    • Project budget: Letter of the Project Mentor, including Local Ethics Committee approval, and project budget and sources of funding.

Selection criteria

The reviewers will evaluate applications based on the following criteria:

  • the scientific merit, originality, and feasibility of the project;
  • the qualifications, experience and productivity of the applicant and the members of the investigation team;
  • the facilities and resources available
  • the promise of the research as related to the control of endometriosis or uterine disorders or to the benefit to be gained by women with endometriosis or uterine disorders.

At the Educational Committee meeting, the most competitive applications will be discussed, and a priority score will be voted. If the quality of the applications is considered not good enough for winning the grant, the grant will be declared void and then there will be two grants the next year.

Required grant reports

Scientific progress reports are due at three, six and nine months after the start date and must be submitted to the Educational Committee for consideration.

Investigator shall also transmit a final scientific progress report on the termination date of the Grant Agreement. Furthermore, the grantee will present his/her results during the first following Congress after the job has finished.

Publication policy

Publications resulting from research activities supported by SEUD must contain the following acknowledgment: “Supported by a grant from SEUD.” In the event that there are multiple sources of support, the acknowledgment should read “Supported in part by a grant from the SEUD” along with references to other funding sources. The Society’s support should also be acknowledged by the grantee and by the institution in all public communication of work resulting from this grant, including scientific abstracts (where permitted), posters at scientific meetings, press releases or other media communications, and Internet-based communications.
